MARK TRAVIS

MARK TRAVIS The concept of alternative dispute resolution is not unfamiliar to most professionals in law or business. However, advocates and parties in the midst of an imminent or pending legal dispute often approach the process without a full appreciation of the neutral’s role in the process and the professional skills and experience necessary to achieve resolution of the dispute.

MARK TRAVIS represented public and private sector organizations in employment litigation, labor relations, and civil rights issues for over 20 years before becoming a full-time neutral in 2008. He received his law degree from the University of Louisville and holds a Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law, where he also teaches employment dispute resolution. Mark currently serves on the panels of the American Arbitration Association, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the International Mediation Institute, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and the American Health Lawyers Association. In addition to his independent work as a neutral, Mark also serves as the Director of the Tennessee Labor-Management Center. He has served as chair of the Dispute Resolution Section of the Tennessee Bar Association, is a founding member of the Tennessee Association of Professional Mediators and is listed on the Employment Panel of CPR’s Panel of Distinguished Neutrals.

Mark’s ADR practice specializes in the resolution of workplace disputes, by applying his years of subject matter experience as an advocate in that arena, coupled with extensive training and experience as a neutral.
